Then there is something you should know before you book: we run one-day ceremonies, not multi-day retreats.
People travel to the Netherlands for this because psilocybin truffles are legal here and a guided ceremony is not possible in much of Europe. Our participants come from across the continent for exactly that reason.
Most of what you will find when you search for a retreat here is a residential programme: several days, accommodation included, often in a group that stays together throughout. That is a real format and it suits some people very well.
It is not what we do, and we would rather you know that now than when you arrive. A ceremony with us is a single day. You come in the early afternoon, the experience lasts four to six hours, and the day closes with a reflection and a meal together before you leave.
For many people that is the more practical option. You do not need to take a week off, you are not committing to living with a group of strangers, and one day costs considerably less than a residential programme. But if what you want is a week away, we are honestly not the right place.
What to know before you travel
The practical answers most people ask us for first.
One day, not a week
A ceremony usually runs from around 13:00 until 20:00. You arrive in the afternoon and leave after dinner the same evening.
13 minutes from Schiphol
The practice is in Vijfhuizen, between Amsterdam and Haarlem. That is roughly a thirteen minute drive from Schiphol Airport, and there is free parking at the location.
Everything in English
The intake call, the guidance on the day, the reflection afterwards and all emails are in English if you book in English.
Plan to stay the night
The day ends in the evening and you will not want to travel far afterwards. There are hotels within a short drive, and if yours is close by we collect you and bring you back at no charge.
One all-in price
A group ceremony is €299 per person, covering the intake, the whole day, dinner and the follow-up call. Accommodation and travel are not included.
Getting here and where to stay
We are at Vijfhuizerdijk 226 in Vijfhuizen, in the province of North Holland between Amsterdam and Haarlem. From Schiphol Airport it is roughly a thirteen minute drive, which makes this straightforward to reach if you are flying in. There is free parking directly at the location. Because a ceremony finishes in the evening, we would rather you stayed nearby than set off on a long journey the same night. There are plenty of hotels within a short drive. Two that people often use are:

If your hotel is close by, within roughly five kilometres of the practice, we collect you before the ceremony and drive you back afterwards at no charge. That matters more than it sounds: driving yourself is not an option on the day, and this way the evening ends without you having to arrange anything. Amsterdam falls outside it, because it is a little too far, the traffic is heavy and parking there is its own problem. Not sure whether your hotel is within range? Mention it during the intake call and we will tell you.
We mention these because guests ask, not because we have any arrangement with them. Book whatever suits you; anything around Haarlem, Vijfhuizen or Schiphol will be close enough. Plan your route to the practice.
One thing we have to be clear about
Nothing containing psilocybin goes home with you. Everything is used during the ceremony at our location.
Psilocybin is prohibited in many places, and carrying it across a border can be a criminal offence where you live or travel through. Tell us during the intake that you are coming from abroad, so we can plan your day and the follow-up around your journey.
Before you book
Every participant has a telephone intake first, wherever you are calling from. That is not a formality: there are circumstances in which we do not facilitate participation, and we would rather establish that before you book a flight.

Questions from abroad
Is psilocybin legal in the Netherlands?
Psilocybin truffles are legally available in the Netherlands. Mushrooms containing psilocybin have been banned here since 2008. We work exclusively with legal truffles. The law in your own country may be different, and you are responsible for knowing what applies to you.
Do you run a multi-day psilocybin retreat?
No. We run one-day ceremonies. You arrive in the early afternoon, the experience lasts four to six hours, and the day closes with a reflection and a shared meal. There is no accommodation and no multi-day programme. If a residential retreat is what you are looking for, we are not that.
Is there a psychedelic retreat in the Netherlands?
There are providers here who call themselves a psychedelic retreat, and there are others, like us, who run single days. The word retreat is not protected and gets used for both, so check what is actually included before you book: how many nights, whether accommodation is part of it, how many facilitators per participant, and whether there is a screening call before you pay. Those answers tell you more than the label does.
Are there multi-night psilocybin retreats here?
Yes, some providers in the Netherlands run programmes over several days with accommodation included. We are not one of them. If a residential programme is what you want, look for that specifically; if what you want is one guided day with preparation and aftercare around it, that is what we do.
Is there a psilocybin retreat near Amsterdam?
Providers cluster around Amsterdam because that is where people arrive. We are in Vijfhuizen, roughly twenty minutes west of the city and thirteen minutes from Schiphol, which is close enough to reach easily and far enough to be quiet. What we run there is a one-day ceremony rather than a retreat.
Can I fly in and out on the same day?
We would not advise it. A ceremony usually finishes around 20:00 and you will have had an intense day. Plan an overnight stay nearby and travel home the following day.
Is the ceremony held in English?
Yes. If you book through the English calendar, the intake call, the guidance during the day and every email you receive are in English.
Where exactly are you, and how do I get there?

No. Everything is used during the ceremony at our location, and nothing containing psilocybin leaves with you. Psilocybin is prohibited in many countries, so carrying it across a border may be an offence where you live or travel.

I did the Holy Ceremony in February, after several Psi Days and EMDR over the past years. Where my personal growth had been noticeable and my backpack had grown lighter, this ceremony needed to land. Last Saturday I was able to take part in the Holy Ceremony. What a beautiful day it was. A very special experience, and extra special to go through it together with my son. The week before I did the Psi Ceremony, also very special because I was there with my daughter. At first I found it all quite nerve-racking, but the atmosphere at Dora's is so warm.
